May 18PUBLIC NOTICE (Docket No. 18-CA-PA-09) The Department of Health, State of Hawaii, is notifying all interested persons of the proposed settlement between the Department of Health and GW Construction. The Department of Health has issued a Notice and Finding of Violation and Order, in Docket No. 15-CA-EO-11, alleging that GW Construction violated state air pollution laws, HRS §342B-11, HAR §11-60.1-2 and the Temporary Covered Source Permit (CSP) No. 0710-01-CT, by not maintaining records of visible emissions observations, total tons of materials processed, and submitting a location change request. May 5ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE PROPOSES DOWNLISTING OF THE HAWAIIAN GOOSE (NENE) FROM ENDANGERED TO THREATENED STATUS On April 2, 2018, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service published a proposed rule in the Federal Register to reclassify the Hawaiian Goose (nene) from endangered to threatened. As a result of the protections of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), captive breeding programs with support from private landowners, and effective management partnerships we believe the Hawaiian Goose (nene) has recovered sufficiently so that it no longer meets the definition of endangered.
