FOR APPROVAL TO COMMIT FUNDS IN EXCESS OF $2,500,000

FOR THE CEIP-46 ROOSEVELT AVENUE RECONDUCTORING PROJECT

The STATE OF HAWAII PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION ("Commission"), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes (“HRS”) §§ 269-27.5 and 269-27.6, HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it will hold a public hearing on Oahu relating to the Application of Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc. (“Hawaiian Electric”) filed on August 14, 2023 (“Application”), regarding the construction and installation of the CEIP-46 Roosevelt Avenue Reconductoring Project as noted below, and described in the Application. The public hearing will be held as follows:

Hawaiian Electric is a public utility that provides electricity service to the island of Oahu. On August 14, 2023, Hawaiian Electric filed an Application, requesting that the Commission approve the commitment of approximately $3,817,704 in funds for the construction and installation of the CEIP-46 Roosevelt Avenue Reconductoring Project (“Project”). According to Hawaiian Electric, the Project involves the replacement of forty (40) spans of the CEIP-46 46kV overhead circuit along Roosevelt Avenue, from the proposed wood pole P7A/48 to existing wood pole P221, and the reconfiguration of four (4) spans of the CEIP 46 46kV underground circuit within the CEIP substation from existing steel pole P.30A and the CEIP substation CEIP-46 circuit breaker termination structure. The Project will also remove various materials and install the following: two (2) steel 46kV poles ranging from 65 feet to 85 feet tall, nineteen (19) wood 46kV poles ranging from 65 feet to 85 feet tall, three (3) 7’x18′ electric manholes, approximately 630 feet of 46kV underground duct bank, approximately 12,500 circuit feet of 795 KCM AAC (all aluminum conductor) 46kV overhead conductors, approximately 850 circuit feet of 2500 KCM aluminum 46kV underground cables, and two (2) 46kV switches.
The Commission will hold a public hearing on September 6, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. to allow interested persons to state their views on the Application, including but not limited to the proposed replacement of spans of the CEIP-46kV overhead circuit and the installation of new equipment.

All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing to state their views on Hawaiian Electric’s proposed Project.
