PUBLIC NOTICE
OVERT VIDEO MONITORING FOR THE
CHINATOWN AREA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 2-32.3(b)(5), Revised Ordinances of Honolulu 2021, that the City and County of Honolulu (City) will be installing overt video monitoring cameras in the Chinatown Area (the area generally bounded by Nu’uanu Stream, Vineyard Boulevard, and Bishop Street, extended to meet Vineyard Boulevard and Honolulu Harbor). These cameras will be used for the general prevention and deterrence of criminal activity and to ensure the safety and security of the public and community we serve. The infrared overt video monitoring cameras will be used to achieve legitimate law enforcement objectives for legitimate public purposes. The infrared overt video monitoring cameras will begin operating and recording 10 calendar days after publication of this legal notice.
The public may submit written comments relating to the monitoring to the City Council and the Honolulu Police Department at the following addresses:

CAMERA LOCATIONS WITHIN THE CHINATOWN AREA
A total of 60 overt video monitoring cameras will be installed in the Chinatown area at various intersections: Hotel Street and Maunakea Street; Hotel Street and Kekaulike Street; Hotel Street and Smith Street; Hotel Street and Fort Street; Hotel Street and Bethel Street; Hotel Street and River Street; River Street and Pauahi Street; Pauahi Street and Maunakea Street; Pauahi Street and Smith Street; Pauahi Street and Bethel Street; Bethel Street and Chaplain Lane; King Street and Kekaulike Street; King Street and Maunakea Street; King Street and Nu’uanu Avenue; King Street and Fort Street Mall; Beretania Street and River Street; Beretania Street and Maunakea Street; Beretania Street and Smith Street; Beretania Street and Bethel Street; Beretania Street and Fort Street; Beretania Street and Bishop Street; Bishop Street and Adams Lane; Bishop Street and Hotel Street; Beretania Street and Nu’uanu Avenue; Nu’uanu Avenue and Chaplain Lane; Nu’uanu Anvenue and Pauahi Street; Nu’uanu Avenue and Hotel Street; Pauahi Street and Fort Street Mall; College Walk and Kukui Street. These pan/tilt/zoom cameras will be placed along these streets and monitored by the Honolulu Police Department.
