NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS Pursuant to Chapter 91, Hawaii Revised Statutes, notice is hereby given that the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation (DOT) Highways Division, will hold public hearings relating to the proposed adoption of Hawaii Administrative Rules, Chapter 19-150, entitled, “Autonomous Vehicle Regulations.” The new chapter includes these new sections as follows: §19-150-1 Definitions; §19-150-2 Permit required; §19-150-3 Permit application; §19-150-4 Manufacturer and other entities requirements; §19-150-5 Driver requirements; §19-150-6 Vehicle requirements and inspections; §19-150-7 Insurance; §19-150-8 Reporting; §19-150-9 Permit revocation; §19-150-10 Severability; and two reserved sections. The topic and general description of the proposed rule is autonomous vehicle regulation. A copy of the proposed rule to be adopted will be mailed to any interested person who requests a copy in writing. The written request must state the requester’s name and mailing address and must be sent to Highways Division Autonomous Vehicle Regulations, 869 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96813. The public hearings will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m, in the DOT Highways Division at 869 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96813, in the 5th Floor Conference Room. The DOT will make and announce its decision on the proposed adoption of administrative rules on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the same location. All interested persons may participate in the public hearing to submit data, views, or arguments orally, or may submit these in writing.
