NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Pursuant to Chapter 91, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), notice is hereby given that the Department of Health (DOH) will hold a public hearing for the proposed adoption of a new Chapter 11-118, Hawaii Administrative Rules, on Disinterment Permits. The proposed rules govern the disinterment of human remains, and give the public clear and consistent direction for disinterment permit requirements. These proposed rules are intended to address the many circumstances that involve disinterment, including application and issuance procedures, a new streamlined application process, application fees, and noncompliance penalties.

PUBLIC TESTIMONY
All interested persons shall be afforded the opportunity to submit testimony, orally or in writing, on the proposed administrative rules at the time of the public hearing. Persons who are not able to attend the public hearing may submit written testimony to DOH: by mail at 1250 Punchbowl Street, Room 123, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96813; or by email at doh.ohsmadmrules@doh.hawaii.gov. All testimony must be received no later than February 9, 2018, 11:00 a.m.
Any person requiring a special accommodation (e.g., assistance of a sign language interpreter) at the public hearing shall file a request with DOH by email at doh.ohsmadmrules@doh.hawaii.gov or by calling (808) 586-4600, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at least ten business days before the public hearing.
