APPLICATION OF KONA WATER SERVICE COMPANY, INC.
FOR APPROVAL OF A GENERAL RATE INCREASE AND CERTAIN TARIFF CHANGES

The STATE OF HAWAII PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION ("Commission"), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes §§ 269-12 and 269-16, HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it will hold a public hearing regarding the Application of Kona Water Service Company, Inc. (“KWSC”) for Commission approval of a general rate increase, filed on August 25, 2026 (“Application”). The public hearing will be held in person on Tuesday, October 27, 2027, at 6:00 p.m., at

KWSC is a public utility that provides water and sewer services to the master planned community known as Kukio Beach Club in North Kona, island of Hawai’i, an adjacent residential development known as Manini’owali, and the Kua Bay Beach Park. KWSC also provides untreated bulk water to the Kukio Golf & Beach Club and the West Hawai’i Veteran’s Cemetery, as well as potable water service to the planned four-lot Kukio Mauka subdivision and the adjacent planned five-lot Stroud subdivision. KWSC proposes to increase its overall revenues by approximately $1,660,296, (33.7% of pro forma revenue) for water distribution service and $1,066,898 (50.7% increase from pro forma revenue) for sewer service.

As part of its Application, KWSC is proposing to update the pump efficiency factor used in the sewer Power Cost Charge from 21.91 kWh per thousand gallons to 16.51 kWh per thousand gallons.
The Commission will investigate whether the Applicant has demonstrated that the proposed relief is just and reasonable. The foregoing is a brief summary of the requests included in the Application.
