NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
MAUI PLANNING COMMISSION

The Maui Planning Commission of the County of Maui hereby gives notice of a public hearing on June 9, 2026, commencing at 9:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter as is practicable either at the Planning Department Conference Room, Kalana Pakui Building, 250 South High Street, Wailuku, Maui, Hawai’i 96793 and also via a videoconferencing platform, on the following matter:

PUBLIC HEARINGS

1. MUNEKIYO HIRAGA, on behalf of KAANAPALI INVESTMENTS LLC, requesting approval of a Special Management Area Use Permit for the subdivision and construction of a 5-lot single-family residential development and related improvements including two driveway aprons, and the installation of sewer and water laterals. The living areas of the homes range from 3,146 sq. ft. to 4,080 sq. ft., located at 2495 Keka’a Drive, Lahaina, Island of Maui, TMK: (2) 4-4-008:016 (SM12024-00005) (L. Sanger)

2. G70 DESIGN, on behalf of LAHAINA CANNERY RETAIL OWNER LP, requesting a Special Management Area Use Permit approval for a proposed 2,998 sq. ft. quick service restaurant, associated site work, and infrastructure improvements to integrate into the existing mauka-makai multiuse pedestrian-bicycle path, located at the Lahaina Cannery Mall, 1221 Honoapi’ilani Highway, Lahaina, Island of Maui, TMK (2)4-5- 011:004 (SM12025-00003) (R. The subject public hearing will be conducted in accordance with Hawai’i Revised Statute Chapter 91, the Maui County Code and Rules of the Maui Planning Commission. Information pertaining to the subject applications may be obtained from the Maui County Planning Department, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui or by email at planning@mauicounty.gov.

Petitions to intervene shall be in conformity with Section 12-201-20 of the Rules of Practice and Procedure for the Maui Planning Commission and shall be filed with the Commission and served upon the applicant no less than ten (10) days before the first public hearing date. Filing of all documents to the Commission is c/o the Maui Planning Department, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui, Hawai’i 96793. The deadline for the filing of a timely petition to intervene if the first public hearing date is on June 9, 2026, is May 26, 2026.

All testimony regarding the subject applications may be filed prior to the date of the hearing by providing 15 copies of said written testimony to the Department of Planning by mail at: Planning Department, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Hawai’i 96793 or online via the Dropbox links posted below each item above. Written testimony should be submitted two business days prior to the public hearing to ensure distribution to the commissioners; however, testimony submitted after such date will still be accepted by the Board until the closing of public testimony at the hearing. Further information will be provided on the posted meeting agenda.

270-7735 at least three days before the date of the scheduled public hearing. For requests received sooner than three days prior to the hearing, every attempt will be made to accommodate the request, but it cannot be guaranteed.
