PROCLAMATION

Pursuant to Section 17-3(b)(3), Hawaii Revised Statutes, I, SCOTT T. NAGO, Chief Election Officer of the State of Hawaii do hereby proclaim that an election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for the purpose of electing someone to fill a vacancy, caused by the resignation of the Honorable Michelle N. Kidani, from the Hawaii State Senate, Eighteenth District, for the unexpired term which ends on November 7, 2028. This election will be held in conjunction with the regularly scheduled General Election on that same date.

Party candidates for the unexpired senate term shall be nominated by the county committees of the parties and file a nomination paper at the Office of Elections not later than 4:30 p.m. on September 4, 2026. Nonpartisan candidates may file a nomination paper with the Office of Elections for the unexpired term not later than 4:30 p.m. on September 4, 2026, with the nonpartisan candidate who is to be nominated to be decided by lot.

Nomination papers will be made available, beginning on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Office of Elections. Pursuant to Section 12-5(d), Hawaii Revised Statues, no signatures shall be required on nomination papers for candidates filing to run in a special election to fill a vacancy.
