NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
MAUI COUNTY CULTURAL RESOURCES COMMISSION
The Maui County Cultural Resources Commission hereby gives notice of a public hearing on April 16, 2026, commencing at 9:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter as is practicable, either at the Planning Department Conference Room, 250 South High Street, Kalana Pakui Building, Maui, or via a virtual meeting link Meeting ID: 281 383 862 462 83 and Password: WQ7fe2o3 on the following matter:
ADOPTION OF THE FINAL DRAFT OF RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE CULTURAL RESOURCES COMMISSION TO UPDATE THE “REBUILD LAHAINA COMMERCIAL ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN GUIDELINES, REVISED APRIL 2026” AND AMENDMENT TO TITLE MC-12, DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING, SUBTITLE 05, MAUI COUNTY CULTURAL RESOURCES COMMISSION, CHAPTER 531, STANDARDS AND CRITERIA RELATING TO THE DUTIES AND AUTHORITY OF THE MAUI COUNTY CULTURAL RESOURCES COMMISSION.
1. The Maui County Cultural Resources Commission will vote to adopt or reject the final draft of recommendations to update the “Rebuild Lahaina Commercial Architectural Design Guidelines, Revised April 2026.
2. Amendment to §12-531-7, Standards and Criteria Relating to the Duties and Authority of the Maui County Cultural Resources Commission, to add the “Rebuild Lahaina Commercial Architectural Design Guidelines, Revised April 2026.”

The subject public hearing notices will be conducted in accordance with the Hawai’i Revised Statutes, the Maui County Code, and the Rules of the Maui County Cultural Resources Commission.
Information pertaining to the subject public hearing items may be obtained from the Maui County Department of Planning, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui or by emailing planning@mauicounty.gov. Copies of the subject public hearing item will be mailed or emailed to any interested person who requests a copy and pays the required fees for copying and postage.
All testimony regarding the public hearing items may be filed prior to the date of the hearing by providing 15 copies of said written testimony to the Department of Planning, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui, Hawai’i 96793, or may be submitted by mail, via online using the Dropbox link, or may be presented at said hearing if the hearing is not closed to the public. Written testimony must be received by the Department of Planning before the public hearing closes on
April 16, 2026. Further information will be provided on the posted meeting agenda.
