EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – NOW RECRUITING

Salary: $177,429–$197,376 annually, depending on qualifications.

The Honolulu Ethics Commission promotes ethical conduct in city government and works to strengthen public confidence in officials and employees. The Executive Director serves as legal counsel to the Commission and leads a staff of ten, including attorneys, investigators, training, and administrative personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Provide advice on conflicts of interest, gifts, misuse of position/resources, political activity, post-employment rules, and related ethics issues.
Enforce ethics laws, including civil fines and disciplinary recommendations.
Deliver ethics training to city officers and employees.
Administer financial disclosure requirements.
Administer and enforce lobbying registration and reporting laws.

Minimum Requirements

Attorney licensed to practice law in Hawai’i.
Ability to begin by April 1, 2026.
Management experience, including supervision and budgeting.
Experience with federal, state, or local ethics law enforcement preferred.
