NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
MAUI PLANNING COMMISSION
The Maui Planning Commission of the County of Maui hereby gives notice of a public hearing on January 27, 2026, commencing at 9:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter as is practicable either at the Planning Department Conference Room, Kalana Pakui Building, 250 South High Street, Wailuku, Maui, Hawai’i 96793 and also via a videoconferencing platform, on the following matter:
PUBLIC HEARINGS
1. KATE L.K. BLYSTONE, Planning Director, in accordance with Maui County Code, Section 19.510.020(B), requests a District Boundary Amendment, Community Plan Amendment, and Change in Zoning to allow the County of Maui, Department of Fire and Public Safety to construct a new Ha’iku Fire Station and related improvements on an approximately 6.1-acre portion of a 27.9-acre parcel of land identified as TMK (2) 2-7-007:008 (por.), Ha’iku, Maui, Hawai’i (ZPA 2025-00007) (W. 2. KATE BLYSTONE, Planning Director, transmitting Council Resolution No. 25-195 referring to the Maui Planning Commission a Proposed Bill to Amend the Pa’ia-Ha’iku Community Plan designation to Light Industrial and to Change the Zoning from Urban Reserve District to M-1 Light Industrial District for 19.933 acres located at 300 Baldwin Avenue, Tax Map Keys: (2) 2-5-005:023 AND (2) 2-5-005:054, Pa’ia, Island of Maui (ZPA2025-00012) (D. The subject public hearing will be conducted in accordance with Hawai’i Revised Statute Chapter 91, the Maui County Code and Rules of the Maui Planning Commission. Information pertaining to the subject applications may be obtained from the Maui County Planning Department, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui or by email at planning@mauicounty.gov.
Petitions to intervene shall be in conformity with Section 12-201-20 of the Rules of Practice and Procedure for the Maui Planning Commission and shall be filed with the Commission and served upon the applicant no less than ten (10) days before the first public hearing date. Filing of all documents to the Commission is c/o the Maui Planning Department, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui, Hawai’i 96793. The deadline for the filing of a timely petition to intervene if the first public hearing date is on January 27, 2026, is January 12, 2026.
All testimony regarding the subject applications may be filed prior to the date of the hearing by providing 15 copies of said written testimony to the Department of Planning by mail at: Planning Department, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Hawai’i 96793 or online via the Dropbox links posted below each item above. Written testimony should be submitted two business days prior to the public hearing to ensure distribution to the commissioners; however, testimony submitted after such date will still be accepted by the Board until the closing of public testimony at the hearing. Further information will be provided on the posted meeting agenda.
