NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING
BY THE COUNTY OF HAWAI’I, DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
TO REVISE RULE 3, RELATING TO THE PANA’EWA RECREATIONAL COMPLEX

Pursuant to Chapter 91 of the Hawai’i Revised Statutes, the County of Hawai’i Department of Parks and Recreation proposes to revise Rule 3, Relating to the Pana’ewa Recreational Complex, in its entirety.

A public hearing solely for the purpose of taking public testimony on this proposed rule change will be held on:

The purpose of the public hearing is to afford all persons the opportunity to submit data, views, or arguments, orally or in writing, to the Hawai’i County Department of Parks and Recreation for its consideration prior to the adoption of the proposed rule revision. All written comments should be filed with the Hawai’i County Department of Parks and Recreation Administration Office at 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 6, Hilo, Hawai’i 96720, no later than May 29, 2025. Written testimony, received by May 29, 2025 will be included in the record of the hearing.

The following is a summary of the changes proposed by the Department of Parks and Recreation:

Proposed changes to Department of Parks and Recreation Rule 3, Relating to the Pana’ewa Recreational Complex, include but are not limited to, updated language and definitions, changes to Equestrian Center fees, modified insurance requirements, and implementation of rules and admission fees for the Zoo.

The proposed changes and additions are available for viewing and printing from the County of Hawai’i, Department of Parks and Recreation website (https://www.parks.hawaiicounty.gov/home-parks) under Rules & Regulations (direct link:
https://records.hawaiicounty.gov/weblink/1/doc/148244/Page1.aspx). The proposed changes and additions may also be reviewed in person or a copy obtained at the Hawai’i County Department of Parks and Recreation Administration Office at 101 Pauahi Street Suite 6, Hilo, Hawai’i 96720; Monday through Friday (excluding state holidays), 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost of copies is $0.10 per page, plus cost of mailing, if any. Copies may be mailed to interested persons after payment of fees for copy and postage are received. Please call (808) 961-8311 to request copies.
