NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
MAUI PLANNING COMMISSION

The Maui Planning Commission of the County of Maui hereby gives notice of a public hearing on February 25, 2025, commencing at 9:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter as is practicable either at the Planning Department Conference Room, Kalana Pakui Building, 250 South High Street, Wailuku, Maui, Hawai’i 96793 and also via the Webex videoconferencing platform, Meeting ID: 2664 498 4921 and Password: 022525, on the following matter:

1. A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTERS 19.30A (AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT) and 19.36B (OFF-STREET PARKING AND LOADING), MAUI COUNTY CODE, ALLOWING MOBILE FOOD TRUCKS OR TRAILERS IN THE AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT

Ms. Kate L.K. Blystone, Planning Director, referring to the Maui, Moloka’i and Lana’i Planning Commissions, a proposed bill to amend Maui County Code Chapters 19.30A and 19.36B, which would allow mobile food trucks or trailers in the Agricultural District. The bill proposes to amend Chapter 19.30A by amending the definitions of “Agricultural Food Establishment” and “Agricultural Products Stand” to include mobile food trucks or trailers, thereby allowing them, under certain provisions, to be considered as permitted accessory uses in the Agricultural District. The bill also proposes to amend Chapter 19.36B to restrict mobile food trucks or trailers from occupying any required parking spaces. (G. Pfost)

2. A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 19.30A (AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT), MAUI COUNTY CODE, ALLOWING AGRICULTURAL TOURISM AS AN ACCESSORY USE IN THE AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT

Ms. Kate L.K. Blystone, Planning Director, referring to the Maui, Moloka’i, and Lana’i Planning Commissions, a proposed bill to amend Maui County Code Chapter 19.30A; allowing specific types of “Agricultural Tourism” as an accessory use in the Agricultural District. The bill proposes to amend Chapter 19.30A by adding a new accessory use to the Agricultural District, titled “15. Agricultural tourism on a farm”. The new accessory use, amongst specific provisions, would permit certain agricultural tourism activities to occur as accessory uses on a farm. (G. Pfost)

The subject public hearing will be conducted in accordance with Hawai’i Revised Statute Chapter 91, the Maui County Code and Rules of the Maui Planning Commission. Information pertaining to the subject applications may be obtained from the Maui County Planning Department, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui or by email at planning@mauicounty.gov.

All testimony regarding the subject applications may be filed prior to the date of the hearing by providing 15 copies of said written testimony to the Department of Planning or via email or may be presented at said hearing. Written testimony may be submitted by mail to: Planning Department, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Hawai’i 96793, or by email to planning@mauicounty.gov. Written testimony should be submitted two business days prior to the public hearing to ensure distribution to the commissioners; however, testimony submitted after such date will still be accepted by the Board until the closing of public testimony at the hearing. Further information will be provided on the posted meeting agenda.
