The above-referenced properties were sold by the County of Kauai at a tax foreclosure sale on May 25, 2023, due to nonpayment of delinquent real property taxes.
Surplus monies realized from the real property foreclosure sale are available for distribution to persons entitled to the surplus in accordance with Sections 5A-5.9, Kauai County Code.
If you believe you are entitled to the surplus or portion thereof, you must file a claim with the County of Kauai, Department of Finance, Real Property Tax Collection Section, 4444 Rice Street, Suite 463, Lihue, Hawaii 96766 by
May 25, 2024. Surplus Claim Form is available online at
www.kauai.gov (Dept. of Finance, Billing & Collections Division). Upon receipt of all claims, we will make a determination in accordance with the law as to who is entitled to the surplus.
Furthermore, Section 5A-5.6, Kauai County Code permits the taxpayer or owner of the property sold to redeem the property within one year from the date of the sale by payment to the purchaser of the purchase price, together with all costs and expenses which the purchaser was required to pay, plus interest on the total amount at the rate of 12% per year.
Arrangements for redemption must be made directly with the purchaser.
