CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

THE PUBLIC IS INVITED to submit written testimony and testify virtually or in person before the Salary Commission of the City and County of Honolulu at its meeting to be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 1:30 p.m., in the Council Multi-Purpose Room, Floor 2 of Honolulu Hale, 530 S. King Street, regarding the salaries and salary schedules which are to be set by the Salary Commission, subject to City Council review.

Pursuant to Section 3-122 of the Revised Charter of the City and County of Honolulu, the Salary Commission is charged with the responsibility of annually establishing the salaries for elected and appointed officials (including department heads), and salary schedules for deputies of the corporation counsel and prosecuting attorney, in accordance with the principles of adequate compensation for work performed, and preservation of a sensible relationship with the salaries of other city employees.

The purpose of this hearing is to allow the public to comment on the proposed salary increases, as required by Section 3-122 of the Charter. The 2023 increases currently under consideration by the Commission may be found as the 2023 Salary Permitted Interaction Group Report proposal and presentation available at https://www.honolulucitycouncil.org/salary-commission-testimony or by requesting a mailed copy by phone at (808)768-3875. The Salary Commission will also discuss its long-term strategy for further evaluation of salaries. Written testimony may be submitted to the Salary Commission via email to ocs@honolulu.gov or by mail to Salary Commission, c/o Office of Council Services, 530 South King Street, Suite 207, Honolulu, HI 96813.

Participation in the meeting is allowed either in person or through the Webex video conferencing platform, by visiting www.webex.com, entering the meeting number "2488 173 2807" and clicking “Join.” The password for the meeting is: "salarycommission" (72527926 from phones and video systems). The online meeting room will be open five minutes before the start of the public hearing. Webex testifiers are strongly encouraged to log in before the start of the meeting to ensure their connection and audio-visual settings are functioning.
