NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Pursuant to Chapter 91, Hawaii Revised Statutes, notice is hereby given that the Department of Customer Services, City and County of Honolulu will hold an in person public hearing on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm (or may be concluded earlier if all submitted testimony has been received and heard) at Kapolei Civic Center, 1000 Uluohia Street, Ground Floor Conference Room A, B, and C, Kapolei, HI 96707, for the proposed adoption of amendments to Rules and Regulations of the Director of Customer Services, Title 9, Subtitle 1,
Part 1, Chapter 1, Subchapter 5 relating to Taxicabs [Eff. June 13, 2013].
The proposed actions will increase the maximum rate for taxicab fares and baggage charges and will allow for a fuel surcharge as follows:
(1) Mileage Rate.
First 1/8 of a mile or fraction thereof: increase from $3.50 to $4.38.
Each additional 1/8 of a mile or fraction thereof: increase from
$0.45 to $0.56.
(2) Waiting Charge.
Each forty-five seconds or fraction thereof: increase from $0.45 to $0.56.
(3) Regular Baggage: increase from $0.60 to $0.75.
(4) Extra Large or Heavy Baggage: increase from $5.10 to $6.38.
(5) Fuel Surcharge: $2.60
PUBLIC TESTIMONY
All are invited to state their views on the proposed amendments, either orally or in writing.
Interested persons may present written/oral testimony regarding the proposed rules at the time of the public hearing. Those unable to attend the public hearing
may submit written testimony by mail to Department of Customer Services, Kapalama Hale, 925 Dillingham Blvd. #257, Honolulu, HI 96817 or by email at CSD@honolulu.gov. All submissions must be received prior to the conclusion of the scheduled public hearing.
Persons who intend to present oral testimony may sign up at the public hearing.
It is highly recommended that written testimony be submitted in addition to registering to provide oral testimony. Oral testimony will be limited to three (3) minutes per testifier.
All oral and written testimony is public information. Please do not include information in your testimony that you do not want disclosed to the public.
Persons with special needs (e.g., large print, sign language interpreter, or translator) shall make requests for assistance by contacting the Department of Customer Services at (808) 768-3391 or by email at CSD@honolulu.gov at least seven (7) days prior to the hearing. Prompt requests help to ensure the availability of appropriate accommodations.
