PROJECT NAME: Manana Corporation Yard Microbiology Laboratory and Control Center Expansion,
Manana Ahupua’a, Ewa District, Island of Oahu
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) is proposing to enclose a breezeway in the existing Building J to create a 2,000 square feet Microbiology Laboratory for water testing and to construct a secondary Control Center as an emergency backup to the primary Control Center. This will include construction of new exterior masonry unit (CMU) walls and associated footings, as well as separate mechanical and electrical systems that tie into the emergency generator. Proposed ground disturbance includes trenching for the construction of footings measuring approximately 224-feet long by 4-feet wide and 30-inches deep. In addition, ground disturbance for a new slab-on-grade will encompass approximately 1,700 square feet.
PROPOSED PROJECT AREA: Approximately 0.1 acre within a portion of Tax Map Key [1] 9-7-024:004
POTENTIAL HISTORIC RESOURCES: The State Historic Preservation Division’s letter dated May 19, 2022, has determined that no historic properties affected by this project. In addition, no work is anticipated beyond previously disturbed areas.
