NOTICE OF PROPOSED WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT PERMIT
FOR THE CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU AND
LAIE TREATMENT WORKS, INC.
PERMIT NO. HI21WWIP213

The State Department of Health (Department) tentatively proposes to issue a Wastewater Management (WWM) permit to manage wastewater and wastewater sludge subject to special conditions to:

LAIE TREATMENT WORKS, INC.

Laie Treatment Works, Inc. owns the Laie Wastewater Reclamation Facility (WRF). The City and County of Honolulu, Department of Environmental Services operates the WRF and Biosolids Composting Facility which is also located at the Laie WRF.

The goal of this proposed draft WWM permit, to reduce the amount of pollution to the maximum extent practicable, will be achieved through the implementation of pollution prevention measures designed to reduce the generation of pollutants.

Persons wishing to comment upon or object to the proposed WWM permit or to request a public hearing, should submit their comments or requests in writing no later than 30 days after the date of this notice, either in person or by mail to:

Copies of the proposed draft permit and other information are available for public inspection Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) from 7:45 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. at the Department’s office address shown above. Copies may be bought. The draft permit and permit rationale are also available on the internet at:

All comments and requests received on time will be considered. If the Department determines that there is significant public interest, a public hearing may be held after the 30 days of public notice.

If the Department’s position is substantially unchanged after considering all timely written comments and all oral comments at any public hearing that may be held, then the Department will issue the WWM permit and this action will be final.
