PROJECT NAME: Rehabilitation of Pipelines and Tunnels: Fort Ruger and Keanu Tunnels, Waikiki Ahupua`a, Kona District, Island of Oahu
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Fort Ruger Tunnel:
TMK: 3-1-042: 009, 013, and 020
The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) is proposing to repave the West Portal access road; repair pipe supports, bolts and pipe straps; repair and repaint security gates; repair concrete walls; repair CRM walls; repaint concrete headwalls; provide protective exterior coating onto pipelines; replace existing lighting system; replace existing panel board; remove abandoned electrical apparatus’; and hazardous material mitigation.
Keanu Tunnel:
TMK: 3-3-005: 111; 3-3-006: 015 and 028; 3-3-007: 012, 013, 028, 040; 3-3-008: 003, 004, 015; 3-3-009: 007, 053, 054, 064, 065, 066, 067, and 076
The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) is proposing to repair shotcrete lining; repair pipe supports, bolts and pipe straps; replace security gate; replace East Portal roofing system; replace metal door/frame; replace expanded metal screen; repaint stair well; rehabilitate the existing tunnel pipeline; provide protective exterior coating onto the pipeline; replace existing lighting system; remove and replace existing load center with new circuit breaker; and hazardous material mitigation.
PROPOSED PROJECT AREA: Fort Ruger Tunnel – approximately 2,767 linear feet; Keanu Tunnel – approximately 1,443 linear feet.
POTENTIAL HISTORIC RESOURCES:
At this time, there are no known historic items within the project limits that will be affected by the construction of this project. In addition, no work is anticipated beyond previously disturbed areas.
