PUBLIC NOTICE WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA) 2020-2023 HAWAI`I COUNTY LOCAL AREA PLAN & HAWAI`I COUNTY WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD BY-LAWS The County of Hawai`i, through its Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD), has developed its proposed Local Area Plan for its 2020-2023 WIOA program. Our Hawai`i County Workforce Development Board is responsible for convening their workforce partners in a collaborative, transparent process to develop and implement a Local Area Plan that aligns with requirements of WIOA and the vision and goals in the Unified State Plan. The Hawai`i County Workforce Development Board By-Laws and Local Area Plan have been updated for adoption at the next Board meeting, 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2020. Prior to their adoption, the proposed Local Area Plan and By-Laws will be available for public review and comment from October 14, 2020 to October 28, 2020 at the following locations: Office of Housing and Office of Housing and Community Development Community Development 1990 Kino’ole Street, Suite 102 West Hawai`i Civic Center Hilo, Hawai’i 96720 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Hwy. 7:45 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i 96740 Monday through Friday 7:45 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Phone: (808) 961-8379 Monday through Friday Phone: (808) 323-4300 The Local Area Plan and By-Laws may be viewed on the Housing and Community Development website at http://www.hawaiicounty.gov/office-of-housing/ or copies of the drafts obtained by calling the OHCD at (808) 961-8379. The OHCD will consider any written comments and views expressed by citizens on the draft Local Area Plan and By-Laws and may modify either, if deemed appropriate. Citizens who wish to comment on the draft Local Area Plan and/or By-Laws must submit their comments by 4:30 p.m. on October 28, 2020 via email to wioa@hawaiicounty.gov or in writing to OHCD, 1990 Kino’ole Street, Suite 102, Hilo, Hawai`i 96720, or fax to 808-961-8685.
