NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
MOLOKAI PLANNING COMMISSION
The Molokai Planning Commission of the County of Maui hereby gives notice of a public hearing on October 14, 2020, commencing at 11:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter as is practicable either at the Mitchell Pauole Center, 90 Ainoa Street, Kaunakakai, Molokai, or via the BlueJeans videoconferencing platform on the following matters:
SPECIAL MANAGEMENT AREA USE PERMIT
1. THE MOLOKAI LAND TRUST requesting a Special Management Area Use Permit for replacing an existing 1,483 linear meter plastic ungulate fence protecting 60 acres and constructing a 1,730 linear meter stainless predator proof fence to protect approximately 90 acres of coastal habitat at the Mokio Preserve, Mokio, Molokai, TMK: (2) 5-1-002:060 (SM1 2020/0010)
The subject public hearing will be conducted in accordance with the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Maui County Code, and the Rules of the Molokai Planning Commission, and/or as they may be suspended by Mayoral or Gubernatorial Emergency Proclamation.
Information pertaining to the subject application may be obtained from the Maui County Department of Planning, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui; the Office of the County Administrator, Mitchell Pauole Center, 90 Ainoa St., Kaunakakai, Molokai, or by emailing planning@mauicounty.gov if offices are closed to the public; and the Molokai Public Library, 15 Ala Malama Avenue, Kaunakakai, Molokai, if open. Copies of the subject application will be mailed or emailed to any interested person who requests a copy and pays the required fees for copying and postage.
Petitions to intervene shall be in conformity with Section 12-301-25 of the Rules of Practice and Procedure for the Molokai Planning Commission and shall be filed with the Commission and served upon the applicant no less than ten (10) days before the first public hearing date. Filing of all documents to the Commission is c/o the Maui County Department of Planning, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii 96793 and the Office of the County Administrator, Mitchell Pauole Center, 90 Ainoa St., Kaunakakai, Molokai. The deadline for the filing of a timely petition to intervene if the first public hearing date is October 14, 2020 is September 30, 2020.
All testimony regarding the application may be filed prior to the date of the hearing by providing 15 copies of said written testimony to the Department of Planning if offices are open to the public, or via email if offices are closed, or may be presented at said hearing if the hearing is not closed to the public. Written testimony may be submitted by mail to: Maui County Department of Planning, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii 96793, or by email to planning@mauicounty.gov. Written testimony must be received by the Department of Planning by noon, one business day before the hearing to ensure distribution to the Commission.
