INFORMATION NOTICE AND CONSULTATION STATE OF HAWAI’I DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION KAUMUALII HIGHWAY INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT WAIMEA CANYON DRIVE AND MENEHUNE ROAD/HALEPULE ROAD Notice is hereby given that the Hawaii Department of Transportation, (HDOT), proposes to begin construction for the abovementioned project. HDOT proposes to perform nightwork at the locations to minimize traffic congestion and expedite completion. Lane closures and heavy equipment noise are expected due to work involving the intersection improvements and installing new pavement and markings. All work will be within the State Highways right-of-way. Pursuant to HAR Title II, Chapter 46, which sets the rules and restrictions on sound levels for construction projects, a noise variance must be obtained for any construction activities to occur outside the permissible hours (i.e. after 6 p.m. weekdays). Construction is estimated to begin at December 28, 2020 and run for a period of 6 months.
