The position is responsible for administering and managing the Disease Investigation Branch and therefore plays a crucial role in protecting the health and safety of the public through the monitoring, control, and prevention of disease outbreaks in Hawaii. As a branch manager, the duties of the position include a wide array of administrative, planning, technical, and supervisory responsibilities. Regarding technical responsibilities, the incumbent must possess the expertise to interpret and analyze epidemiological data and apply relevant findings to public health actions. The incumbent fulfills all duties independently with overall technical guidance and medical direction provided by the Chief of the Disease Outbreak Control Division. Travel may be required.
