NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of public hearings to be held by the Department of Planning and Permitting of the City and County of Honolulu under Special Management Area Ordinance, Chapter 25, Revised Ordinances of Honolulu, as amended, and under the Shoreline Setback Ordinance, Chapter 23, Revised Ordinances of Honolulu, as amended, for the following applications at the date and the time specified or soon thereafter:

1. APPLICATION: SPECIAL MANAGEMENT AREA USE PERMIT
FILE NO. 2019/SMA-45 (SA)

OWNERS: State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural
Resources (DLNR)
APPLICANT: City and County of Honolulu, Department of Environmental Services (ENV)

PROPOSAL: Special Management Area Use Permit to allow the expansion of and upgrades to the existing Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plant (SIWWTP) to provide secondary treatment and to develop various non-process support facilities within the Special Management Area.

2. APPLICATION: SPECIAL MANAGEMENT AREA USE PERMIT

APPLICANT: City and County of Honolulu, Department of Environmental Services

LOCATION: 1499 Sand Island Parkway – Sand Island
TAX MAP KEYS: 1-5-041: 003 and 006
LOT AREA: 255.483 Acres
PROPOSAL: Special Management Area Use Permit and Shoreline Setback Variance to construct a new 440-foot-long rock mound revetment and repair an existing stop gate in order to protect the existing, degraded Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plant outfall pipeline from erosion damage.

Maps showing the general location and boundaries of the area under consideration are on file at the Department of Planning and Permitting, Permit and Zoning Records Access, First Floor, Frank F. Fasi Municipal Building, 650 South King Street, and are available to the public for inspection during office hours, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. All interested persons are invited to attend. Those persons desiring to testify may register prior to the public hearing at the public hearing site and are encouraged to submit one copy of their testimony in writing.

Attendance at the public hearing is not necessary to submit testimony. Written testimony may be faxed (768-6743) or mailed (650 South King Street, 7th Floor, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813) to the department prior to the hearing and will be included with the transcript of the hearing and will be considered in the evaluation of the request.
