POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Planner & ADA Coordinator

Disability and Communication Access Board

The Disability and Communication Access Board (DCAB) is seeking applications for the position of Planner & ADA Coordinator. Coordinate Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinators in State government to ensure consistent implementation of the ADA in State programs and services. Provide training and technical assistance, dissemination of information on the law and its implementing regulations and relevant court cases, and assistance in resolving complaints. Staff State ADA Coordinators’ mtgs and attend County ADA Coordinators’ mtgs. Monitor legislative proposals, research and prepare testimonies on behalf of the Board. Staff the DCAB Legislative Committee.

Collect data on disability population, analyze problems and concerns of persons with disabilities, make recommendations to improve programs and services for persons with disabilities. Coordinate the Board’s legislative agenda on proposed legislation that impacts persons with disabilities. Ensure emergency planning and preparedness efforts adequately include and respond to access and functional needs of persons with disabilities.

Min. reqmts: Master’s Degree from accredited college or university in human services, public administration, public health, education, sociology, law, or related field. Familiarity of disability laws and State legislative process.

State position exempt from civil service. Salary commensurate with experience.
