Notice of Public Hearing
Weatherization Assistance Program State Plan

The State of Hawaii is eligible to receive an estimated $257,000 in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) through its Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) for the July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020 program year (PY19). In Hawaii, WAP funds are used statewide to help lowincome households reduce their energy costs by providing energy conservation education and whole house weatherization measures, such as low-flow shower heads and faucet aerators, compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) or light emitting diodes (LEDs), advanced power strips, hybrid heat pump or solar water heaters, and replacement air conditioners or refrigerators. Priority is given to elderly people, people with disabilities, families with children, high residential energy users, and households with a high energy burden.

The Office of Community Services (OCS) will be holding a public hearing on PY19 WAP State Plan on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at the Office of Community Services, 830 Punchbowl Street, Room 420, Ke’elikolani Building, Honolulu, HI 96813. A copy of the State Plan is available at http://labor. hawaii.gov/ocs/service-programs-index/weatherization-assistance-program/ or can be provided upon request (Courtney.N.Ho@hawaii.gov or (808)586-8624). Persons with special needs, including oral language services, should call OCS at (808) 586-8679 by Friday, April 26, 2019, to make appropriate arrangements.

The public is welcome to attend and provide comments at the hearing. Written comments may be submitted to OCS (email: dlir.ocs@hawaii.gov; fax (808) 586-8685) by Friday, April 26, 2019, for consideration at the hearing. Information received will be considered prior to submittal for the PY19 WAP State Plan to the DOE.
