PROJECT NAME: Rehabilitation of Pipelines and Tunnels: Makapuu Tunnel, Waimanalo Ahupua’a, Ko’olaupoko District, Island of Oahu, TMK: (1) 3-9-10:001, (1) 3-9-10:032
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) proposes to repair the Makapuu pipeline tunnel. The repairs include applying shotcrete lining on the tunnel wall, repairs to the pipe supports, repairs to the delaminated cement mortar coating of the 36-inch concrete cylinder pipe, repair and repainting of the metal entry gates, and replacement of the existing lighting system and existing chain link fence at the east portal of the tunnel.
PROPOSED PROJECT AREA: Approximately 0.247 acre.
POTENTIAL HISTORIC RESOURCES: The State Historic Preservation Division, per letter dated March 18, 2019, has determined that no historic properties affected by this project.
