Duties and Responsibilities: The assistant timekeeper shall be responsible for the following:

1. Compile employee time records and data
2. Review employee payroll submissions to the State Payroll clerk
3. Take corrective action on discrepant time reports and records of employees
4. Assist timekeeper review past employee payroll records for any underpayments/overpayments or other inaccuracies
5. Use a state government computer daily to enter, update, and correct payroll data in Excel spreadsheets
6. Communicate effectively with YCA staff about individual timesheet/payroll discrepancies

Skills, Qualifications, Education and Experience requirements:

1. Associate’s degree preferred, minimum High School Diploma
2. One (1) year of payroll experience as a payroll clerk, assistant payroll clerk, or bookkeeper in charge of payroll
3. Knowledge and experience with Excel and Word
4. Good communication skills, especially the ability to deal with individuals with tact and sensitivity
5. Attention to detail – This is critical to the successful completion of the job tasks
6. Time Management Skills – The assistant timekeeper must a) be constantly aware of time deadlines, and b) possess the ability to meet them
7. Good Organizational Skills to address the payroll issues/concerns of 60 employees

Salary: $2,730 per month
