Note: Hiring rate will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications and other relevant factors.

The primary purpose of this position is to administer State public health services and programs for the County and serves as the principal public health representative for the Director of Health.

License:

Applicants must possess a valid license to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Hawaii. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment. (Provide a copy if available at the time of application).

Required job related competencies:

Able to organize work by determining short or long-term goals, resource requirements and strategies to achieve them. Also coordinates with others, monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
Prepares, justifies and/or administers budgets. Monitors expenditures to ensure cost- effective support of programs.
Coordinates and monitors work assignments, including evaluating work performance, providing training, and counseling/discipline, as necessary. Also ensures staff are appropriately selected, developed, and treated in a fair and equitable manner.
Able to influence, motivate and challenge others. Adapts leadership style to the situation.
Keeps current on political, economic, social and technological issues that affect the organization, including developing and maintaining a professional network with various organizations.
Directs and executes business functions, resource allocation and production.
