The West Oahu Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) will hold an election to fill one (1) Director position on Tuesday, June 26 at 12:30 pm during the West Oahu SWCD meeting at the Crop Production Services Conference Room in Kunia Village located at 92-1770 Kunia Road, Kunia, HI 96759.
Nominating petitions for election must be submitted by 4:00 pm June 18, 2018 to the West Oahu SWCD office at 92-1770 Kunia Road, Kunia, HI 96759.
In accordance with the 1991 Amendments in Chapter 180 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes,
1. Director candidates must file nominating petitions with twenty (25) or more votes from registered land occupiers or district cooperators. Registered land occupiers are owners or lessees of land for agricultural designation or uses who provide the district with their name, address, and identifying land and acreage. A district cooperator is considered registered, but their acreage will also be documented to determine total votes. A land occupier may sign more than one (1) petition.
2. Candidates for director must live or work in the West Oahu Soil and Water Conservation District.
3. If there are more candidates than vacancies, elections will be conducted by the district.
Note: Chapter 180, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 180-12, provides that land occupiers representing individual farms, ranches, or plantations are eligible to have one (1) vote for each one hundred (100) acres or less lying within the district. Election ballots will be available to registered land occupiers in the West district at our offices June 20-26, 2018, or can be obtained at the June meeting.
