Recruiting Assistant for the Youth Challenge Academy
Contractual, full-time position, one (1) year term

Description: Serve as the Recruiting Assistant for the National Guard Youth Challenge Academy (YCA) located in Kalaeloa, Oahu. The YCA is a division of the State of Hawaii Department of Defense and provides at-risk youth, ages 16-18 an opportunity to complete their high school education and acquire values, life skills, and self-discipline.

Responsible for recruiting applicants for enrollment in the YCA and provides assistance to the Program Recruiter, to include planning, coordinating, interviewing potential applicants, reviewing and evaluating applicant qualifications or eligibility. Also, this position has mentor program responsibilities for screening, interviewing, recruiting and recommending the most qualified candidates for open positions within our client’s organization.

Qualifications:
Graduation from High School.
Ability to market YCA and its program to the community. Prefer those with two (2) years of marketing experience which demonstrated communication skills to present, explain, and successfully sell a product or concept to the public and prospective customers.
Demonstrated efficiency in record keeping, has strong organizational skills and attention to details.
Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn: the function, structure and role of the Youth Challenge Academy; the principles and procedures of a quasi-military organization; and established policies, processes and forms pertinent to the recruitment of mentors.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with at-risk youth and others; work comfortably and effectively with a diverse group of staff members and the general public; determine work priorities, plan, organize, schedule work independently; communicate effectively in writing and preparing reports.
Excellent communication skills to present and explain the YCA mentoring program to the public and stakeholders.

Salary: Up to $3,250/month, depending on qualifications and available funds.
