PROJECT NAME: Rehabilitation of Pipelines and Tunnels: Moanalua and Quarry Tunnels, Moanalua and Halawa Ahupuaa, Ewa and Kona Districts, Island of Oahu

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) proposes to repair shotcrete lining, pipe supports, concrete walls, headwalls and entry gates; replace existing lighting system; and provide protective coating for pipes at both Moanalua and Quarry Tunnels. Repair cracked pipe section and replace corroded existing 24-inch bevel geared gate valve (BGGV) in the Moanaula Tunnel; and install new 8-foot high expanded metal enclosures at the north and south portals of the Quarry Tunnel.

PROPOSED PROJECT AREA: Moanalua Tunnel – Approximately 3,392 feet; Quarry Tunnel – Approximately 2,316 feet.

POTENTIAL HISTORIC RESOURCES: The State Historic Preservation Division, letter dated February 12, 2018, has determined that no historic properties affected by this project.
