NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING
BY THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
TO REVISE RULE 3, RELATING TO THE PANA’EWA RECREATION COMPLEX
Pursuant to Chapter 91 of the Hawai’i Revised Statutes, the County of Hawai’i Department of Parks and Recreation proposes to repeal the existing Rule 3 and propose a new Rule 3, Relating to the Pana’ewa Recreational Complex.
A public hearing solely for the purpose of taking public testimony on these proposals will be held on:

The purpose of the public hearing is to afford all persons the opportunity to submit data, views, or arguments, orally or in writing, to the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation for its consideration prior to the adoption of the proposed revisions summarized below. All written comments should be filed with the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation Administration Office at 101 Pauahi Street Suite 6, Hilo, Hawaii 96720 by November 21, 2024.
The following is a summary of the changes proposed by the Department of Parks and Recreation:
The proposed changes to Department of Parks and Recreation Rule 3, Relating to the Pana’ewa Recreational Complex includes repealing the previous rule in its entirety and replacing it with a new Rule 3 Relating to the Pana’ewa Recreational Complex that includes a comprehensive expansion on most Sections and institutes significant changes including but not limited to Fees for the Pana’ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens.
The proposed changes and additions are available for viewing and printing from the County website at

The proposed changes and additions may also be reviewed in person or a copy obtained at the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation Administration Office at 101 Pauahi Street Suite 6, Hilo, Hawaii 96720; Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost of copies is $1.00 for the first page and $.10 for each additional page. Copies may be mailed to interested persons after payment of fees for copy and postage are received. Please call (808) 961-8311 to request copies.
