OPENING OF THE KAUAI COUNTY HOUSING AGENCY’S
HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER (SECTION 8) WAITLIST

The Kauai County Housing Agency announces it will be opening its Wait List for the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8). The Housing Choice Voucher Program provides rental assistance in the form of vouchers to low-income families and provides payments directly to landlords to offset the cost difference between tenant payments and unit rent.
To better serve applicants and to make the application process available to all, including those who are least likely to apply, the entire application process is available online at https://waitlistcheck.com/HI795 beginning on Tuesday, September 01, 2026, 12:00am (HST) until further notice. Program eligible applicants will be selected from the waiting list based on targeted funding or selection preference(s) for which they qualify, and in accordance with the PHA’s hierarchy of preferences, if applicable. Within each targeted funding or preference category, applications will be selected on a first come, first serve basis according to the time and date that pre-application is received. Only one application will be allowed per household. There is no guarantee for eligibility or rental payment assistance after applying.

Applications will be accepted online at https://waitlistcheck.com/HI795 beginning on Tuesday, September 01, 2026 12:00AM (HST). Applications will be accepted from this time until further notice. There is no cost to apply to the Wait list. Acceptance and/or assistance are based on income verification and eligibility requirements. Maximum income levels, based on family size are as follows:

If computer access is unavailable, application may be completed utilizing our kiosk located in the lobby area of our Housing Agency. For assistance with applying to the waitlist, please call our office to schedule an appointment at least 2 days prior to your anticipated visit to the kiosk.
