Notice is hereby given that the Kaua’i County Council will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., or soon thereafter, at the Council Chambers, 4396 Rice Street, Room 201, Historic County Building, Lihu’e, on the following:

A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6, KAUA’I COUNTY CODE 1987, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO ESTABLISHING THE SPECIAL-DUTY POLICE OFFICER PROGRAM FEE ACCOUNT

The purpose of this Bill is to establish a “Special-Duty Police Officer Program Fee Account” for the Kaua’i Police Department (KPD), to provide for receipt and expenditure of fees paid and collected pursuant to agreements to hire special-duty police officers. A party may request to hire special-duty police officers from KPD to provide traffic control, security/crowd control, or escorts for a variety of events. If a request is approved, the resulting agreement will include a schedule of fees and rates for the hiring of special-duty police officers. Such fees that are paid and collected by KPD shall be deposited into this account.

Any person may testify at the public hearing, and at any Council and Committee Meeting (at which time any Bill may be amended).
