NOTICE FOR FILING REAL PROPERTY ASSESMENT COMPLAINTS AND PUBLIC HEARING
COUNTY OF KAUA`I BOARD OF REVIEW
As required by Section 5A-12.7(d) of the Kaua’i County Code, notice is hereby given that any taxpayer may file complaints regarding real property assessments of real property located in the County of Kaua’i. The complaints are for the purpose of assisting the Board of Review in preparing a report to the Mayor and the Assessor regarding instances, which in the opinion of the Board, the Assessor did not use proper methods in assessing properties not brought before the Board of Review.
Since this complaint period is not for appealing assessments but only for filing complaints, the Board cannot change any 2025 Assessments. Each complaint shall identify the property involved in writing to state the valuation claimed by the owner and the grounds of objection to the assessment. Complaints shall be filed only during the period from September 5 to September 15, 2025, with the Director of Finance at the Real Property Division, 4444 Rice Street, Suite 454, Lihu’e, Kaua’i, Hawai’i. Taxpayers Notice of Complaint (RP Form P-70) is available at www.kauaipropertytax.com.
Pursuant to the Kaua’i County Code Chapter 5A, Article 12.7 (d), on October 2, 2025, the Board of Review will hold a public hearing at 1:00 p.m. in Meeting Room 2A/2B of the Mo’ikeha Building, located at 4444 Rice Street, Lihu’e, Kaua’i, Hawai’i to discuss all owner complaints properly and timely submitted in with this Notice. This complaint process is intended to assist the Board in making recommendations to the mayor to help improve the County’s process of tax assessment.
All owners who timely submit written complaints regarding their property will have an opportunity to provide public testimony. Please note this public hearing for owner complaints is intended purely for purposes of gathering information and is separate and distinct from the property tax appeal process. Each complaint shall be in writing, shall identify the particular property involved, and shall state the valuation claimed by the owner and the grounds of the objection. The Board may impose a time limit for each person presenting testimony.
