NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
LANAI PLANNING COMMISSION

The Lanai Planning Commission of the County of Maui hereby provides notice of a public hearing on November 20, 2024 commencing at 5:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as is practicable either at a virtual meeting via the Webex videoconferencing platform, Meeting Number: 2662 312 2522 and password: 112024, or for a hybrid meeting at the Current Planning Division’s Conference Room, One Main Plaza, 2200 Main Street, Suite 619, Wailuku, Hawaii, 96793, and a courtesy testimony site at the Maui County Council, Lanai District Office,
814 Fraser Avenue (entrance on Gay Street), Lanai City, Hawaii, 96763 on the following matter (Final location will be set on the meeting agenda):

INITIATION OF A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 19.36B – OFF-STREET PARKING AND LOADING, MAUI COUNTY CODE, TO ACCOMMODATE PARKING REDUCTIONS IN A SPECIFIC PORTION OF LANAI CITY

The Lanai Planning Commission will consider passing a motion to initiate an amendment to Maui County Code Chapter 19.36B; with the purpose of removing onsite parking requirements for certain properties and uses in Lanai City that are specifically located within the boundaries of Fraser Avenue to the west, Lanai Avenue to the east, 7th Street to the north, and 8th Street to the south. If the motion passes, then a subsequent public hearing will be scheduled before the Lanai Planning Commission for formal review and recommendation to the County Council of the proposed Bill. (G. The subject public hearing will be conducted in accordance with the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Maui County Code, and Rules of the Lanai Planning Commission. Information pertaining to the subject application may be obtained from the Maui County Planning Department, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui, or planning@mauicounty.gov if offices are closed to the public. Copies of the subject application will be mailed to any interested person who requests a copy and pays the required fees for copying and postage.

All testimony regarding the subject application may be filed prior to the date of the hearing by providing 15 copies of said written testimony to the Department Planning or via email, or may be presented at said hearing if the hearing is not closed to the public. Written testimony may be submitted by mail to: Planning Department, 2200 Main Street, Suite 315, Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii 96793 or by email to planning@mauicounty.gov. Written testimony should be submitted two business days prior to the public hearing to ensure distribution to the commissioners; however, testimony submitted after such date will still be accepted by the Commission until the closing of public testimony at the hearing. Further information will be provided on the posted meeting agenda.
