HONOLULU BOARD OF WATER SUPPLY, NEW NON-POTABLE RESERVOIR PROJECT
NATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION ACT SECTION 106-REQUEST FOR COMMENTS
PROJECT NAME: EAST KAPOLEI 215′ 3.0 MG R-1 RESERVOIR
ISLAND: OAHU MOKU: EWA AHUPUA’A: HONOULIULI
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) is proposing the construction of a 3.0 MG R-1 water reservoir next to the existing
BWS 4.0 MG potable water reservoir, north of Farrington Highway and west to the intersection of Farrington Highway and
Kualakai Parkway. The construction also includes about 2,090 feet of 16-inch R-1 water main extending from the new R-1 water
reservoir to Farrington Highway. The purpose of this project is to extend the BWS R-1 water supply system for irrigation in the
effort of conserving potable water. The proposed work will include reservoir site grading and trenching for R-1 water main and
onsite utilities with the use of heavy construction equipment. All construction work will be within a parcel granted to the BWS and
easements for the BWS. (See map below for project location).

POTENTIAL HISTORIC RESOURCES:
In its letter of April 6, 2018, the State Historic Preservation Division determined that no historic properties would be affected by
this project. If you have concerns about this project affecting historic properties, please email Lester Fujikami at
capitalprojects@hbws.org within 30 days of the date of this notice.
