Notice is hereby given that the Kaua’i County Council will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., or soon thereafter, at the Council Chambers, 4396 Rice Street, Room 201, Historic County Building, Lihu’e, on the following:

A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. B-2023-891,
AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE OPERATING BUDGET OF THE COUNTY OF KAUAI, STATE OF HAWAII, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2023 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2024, BY REVISING THE AMOUNTS ESTIMATED IN THE GENERAL FUND (Constituent Staff Support – $500,000)
This Bill proposes to amend Ordinance No. B-2023-891, as amended relating to the Operating Budget of the County of Kaua’i, State of Hawai’i for the Fiscal Year July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024 by transferring $500,000 from the “Council Assistance” line-item to a new item entitled “NEW Constituent Staff” to provide assistance as follows:
Councilmember Bulosan (1 NEW Staff Member $75,000)
Councilmember Carvalho (1 NEW Staff Member $75,000)
Councilmember Cowden (2 NEW Staff Members $75,000)
Councilmember Kagawa (1 NEW Staff Member $75,000)
Councilmember Kuali’i (1 NEW Staff Member $75,000)
These New Constituent Staff support positions are being made available for Councilmembers who have requested additional staff support to carry out their duties. These positions are part-time, and the rate of pay for these positions will be established by the hiring Councilmember.
The $500,000 appropriation includes a $40,163 Social Security contribution, and $84,837 for computer peripherals/supplies/laptops.
