NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE DRAFT KAUAI ISLAND UTILITY COOPERATIVE (KIUC) HABITAT CONSERVATION PLAN

The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW), State of Hawai’i, pursuant to Chapter 195D, Hawai’i Revised Statutes, will hold a public hearing to receive comments on the KIUC Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) which will accompany KIUC’s application for a 50-year incidental take license of ‘a’o (Newell’s shearwater), ‘ua’u (Hawaiian petrel), ‘ake’ake (Band-rumped storm-petrel), ae’o (Hawaiian stilt), koloa maoli (Hawaiian duck), ‘alae ke’oke’o (Hawaiian coot), ‘alae ‘ula (Hawaiian common gallinule), nene (Hawaiian goose), and honu (Green sea turtle). The draft HCP outlines KIUC’s proposed provisions to minimize and mitigate the impacts to the covered species resulting from the operation and maintenance of a public utility.
