NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

APPLICATION OF HAWAIIAN ELECTRIC COMPANY, INC.,
FOR APPROVAL OF THE WAHIAWA-WAIMANO 46 KV OVERHEAD
SUB TRANSMISSION LINE RELOCATION PROJECT

Docket No. 2022-0141

The STATE OF HAWAII PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION ("Commission"), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes (“HRS”) §§ 269-27.5 and 269-27.6(a), HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it will hold a public hearing relating to the Application (“Application”) of Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc. (“Hawaiian Electric”), filed on July 11, 2022, for Commission approval to relocate a portion of the existing Wahiawa-Waimano 46 kilovolt (“kV”) overhead sub-transmission line located in the Koa Ridge development area on the island of Oahu. The public hearing will be held as follows:

Hawaiian Electric is a public utility that provides electricity service to the island of Oahu. On July 11, 2022, Hawaiian Electric filed an Application requesting the Commission: (1) approve the commitment of approximately $5.2 million in funds for the construction and installation of the Wahiawa-Waimano 46 kV line relocation (“Project”); (2) determine that the Project’s 46 kV line, as described in the Application, be constructed above the surface of the ground, pursuant to HRS § 269-27.6(a); and (3) conduct a public hearing pursuant to HRS § 269-27.5 for the overhead relocation of an existing 46 kV overhead sub-transmission line.
The public hearing that will be held on October 11, 2022, is intended to allow interested persons to state their views on the proposed Wahiawa-Waimano 46 kV line relocation associated with the Project. A portion of the relocated section of the 46 kV overhead line will be situated in area zoned “BMX-3” (BMX-3 Community Business Mixed Use).
The foregoing is a brief summary of the requests included in the Application. Copies of the Application are available for public review through the
Commission’s electronic Document Management System, accessible at

All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing to state their views on Hawaiian Electric’s proposed overhead line relocation. Statements may also be e-mailed to the Public Utilities Commission at
puc@hawaii.gov or mailed to 465 South King Street, Room 103, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813. All written statements should reference Docket No. 2022-0141. Any person may request an auxiliary aid or service or an accommodation due to a disability by contacting the Commission within 5 days of the public hearing date.
