NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The STATE OF HAWAII PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION (“Commission”), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes (“HRS”) § 269-27.5, HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it will hold a virtual public hearing relating to the Application (“Application”) of HAWAIIAN ELECTRIC COMPANY, INC. (“Hawaiian Electric”), filed on May 5, 2021, for Commission approval to construct a 46 kilovolt ("kV”) overhead and underground line for the Honouliuli Wastewater Treatment Plant CEIP-46 46kV overhead sub-transmission line relocation project on the island of Oahu. The public hearing will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. All interested parties may attend the public hearing as follows:

Hawaiian Electric is a public utility that provides electricity service to the island of Oahu. On May 5, 2021, Hawaiian Electric filed an Application, requesting that: (1) the Commission conduct a public hearing, as required by HRS § 269-27.5, for the overhead relocation and extension of an existing 46 kV overhead sub-transmission line; and (2) a Commission determination, pursuant to HRS § 269-27.6(a), that the proposed 46 kV line relocations be constructed both above and below the surface of the ground.
The public hearing that will be held on December 9, 2021, is intended to allow interested persons to state their views on only the proposed 46 kV line relocations associated with the Honouliuli Wastewater Treatment Plant CEIP-46 46 kV overhead sub transmission line relocation project. A portion of the relocated section of 46 kV overhead line will be visible to some nearby homes in zoned area “R-5” (R 5 Residential).
The foregoing is a brief summary of the requests included in the Application. All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing to state their views on the Application. Statements may also be e-mailed to the Public Utilities Commission, at puc@hawaii.gov. All written statements should reference Docket No. 2021-0070. Any person may request an auxiliary aid or service or an accommodation due to a disability by contacting the Commission within 5 days of the public hearing date.
