Pursuant to Chapter 91, Hawaii Revised Statutes, notice is hereby given that the Department of Health (DOH) will hold additional public hearings for the proposed amendment and compilation of Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) Title 11, Chapter 157, “Examination and Immunization” on the counties of Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai. These public hearings are in addition to the public hearing held on these rules on Oahu on November 1, 2018.
Title 11, Chapter 157, “Examination and Immunization,” establishes immunization requirements and immunization and examination requirements for school, post-secondary school, and child care facility attendance in the State of Hawaii and provides for the immunization of indigents and other high-risk individuals.
The proposed amendments update and clarify the immunization and examination requirements for school, post-secondary school, and child care facility attendance in Hawaii. For example, unneeded definitions are deleted, other definitions are amended, and new definitions are added, tuberculosis requirements are amended, exemptions are amended, physical examination, provisional attendance, and exclusion provisions are amended, reporting and records provisions are amended, and suspension, revocation, and exclusion provisions are amended.

PUBLIC TESTIMONY
All interested persons shall be afforded the opportunity to submit testimony, orally or in writing, on the proposed administrative rules at the time of the public hearing. Persons who are not able to attend the public hearings may submit written testimony to the DOH: by mail at the Disease Outbreak Control Division (DOCD), 1250 Punchbowl Street, Room 443, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813 or by email at immunization@doh.hawaii.gov. All testimony shall be received no later than Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time.
Any person requiring a special accommodation (e.g. assistance of a sign language interpreter) at the public hearing shall file a request with the DOH by email at immunization@doh.hawaii.gov or by calling (808) 586-8300, by December 4, 2018.
Oral testimony shall be limited to up to two (2) minutes per testifier.
