Notice of Public Hearing
Weatherization Assistance Program State Plan
The State of Hawaii is eligible to receive $233,658 in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) through its Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) for the October 1, 2018 – September 30, 2019 plan year (PY18). In Hawaii, WAP funds are used statewide to help low-income households reduce their energy costs by providing energy conservation education and whole house weatherization measures such as low-flow shower heads and faucet aerators, compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) or light emitting diodes (LEDs), advanced power strips, hybrid heat pump or solar water heaters, and replacement air conditioners or refrigerators. Priority is given to elderly people, people with disabilities, families with children, high residential energy users, and households with a high energy burden.
The State Office of Community Services (OCS) will be holding a public hearing on the PY18 WAP State Plan on Friday, July 27, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. at the Office of Community Services, 830 Punchbowl Street, Room 420, Ke’elikolani Building, Honolulu, HI 96813. A copy of the Plan is available at http://labor.hawaii.gov/ocs/service-programs-index/weatherization-assistance-program/ or can be provided upon request (janell.h.yokota@hawaii.gov or (808) 586-8679). Persons with special needs, including oral language services, should call OCS at (808) 586-8679 by Friday, July 20, 2018, to make arrangements.
The public is welcome to attend and provide comments at the hearing.
