PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of a public hearing to be held by the Department of Planning and Permitting of the City and County of Honolulu under Chapter 21, Revised Ordinances of Honolulu, as amended, for the following application at the date and the time specified or soon thereafter:

Pursuant to the Twelfth Proclamation issued by Governor David Ige on August 20, 2020, relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, the September 29, 2020 meeting will be held remotely to prevent transmission of the virus causing COVID-19. Protecting the health and welfare of the community is of utmost concern. City Staff, Agents, and Applicants may be participating via online meeting venue. Information on how the public may participate in the meeting is provided below.

REQUEST: Special District Permit (Major) for the renovation of the King Kalakaua Plaza in Waikiki. The Applicant proposes to demolish one story of an existing retail building located on the block bounded by Olohana Street, Kuhio Avenue, Kalaimoku Street, and Kalakaua Avenue, construct four stories and appurtenant site improvements. The proposed seven-story structure will contain 110 time share
units, two stories of commercial space, below-grade parking structure with 205 parking stalls, and amenities and support facilities for the building.

Join in person: The City is exercising a good faith effort to provide this option only to members of the public who are unable to attend the meeting via phone or Webex. Only persons wearing masks that cover the nose and mouth will be allowed in the Mission Memorial Conference Room. No more than ten people will be permitted in the Mission Memorial Conference Room at a time, and all people inside the Mission Memorial Conference Room must abide by social distancing guidelines and thus maintain six feet of distance between themselves and other people. Any person waiting outside the Mission Memorial Conference Room for a turn to testify must abide by social distancing guidelines and wear a mask that covers his or her nose and mouth.
